Sheldon Fireworks Business Close To Opening

Sheldon, Iowa — As the first permits for fireworks sales in Iowa are finally being issued, a family-owned Sheldon fireworks business says they’re getting close to being able to open for business.

Daniel Ten Clay, of TC Fireworks, says his family’s company is in the process of finishing up the final paperwork to open their fireworks business.

Ten Clay says TC Fireworks will occupy a temporary structure for this Independence Day fireworks season.

He says he is hopeful that the business will be able to open late next week.

Ten Clay says the permit process for a fireworks business is a little more daunting than many expected.

The sale of consumer-grade fireworks became legal in Iowa for the first time in 80-years, after the Iowa Legislature passed, and then-Governor Terry Branstad signed, a bill authorizing their sale and use in the state.
