Sheldon Memorial Day Ceremony/Delayed Broadcast

Sheldon, Iowa — Earlier we told you about the Memorial Day ceremonies that are scheduled for Monday around the KIWA listening area.  Today, we want to place a special focus on the Memorial Day ceremony scheduled for Sheldon.

Sheldon’s Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 10:00 Monday morning in the Sheldon High School Auditorium.  The event will begin with patriotic musical selections from the Sheldon High School Band.

After Opening Remarks from American Legion Commander Royd Chambers, the invocation will be offered by Pastor Jesse Walhof of Living Water Community Church.  The Sheldon High School Band will perform the National Anthem, followed by a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.  Sara Siebrecht will provide some patriotic music, and Pastor Paul Van Maaren, of Sheldon’s First Reformed Church, will be this year’s Guest Speaker.  Van Maaren, whose father is a Vietnam War vet, will talk about his dad who, unlike many others, was able to come home from that war.  He says he’ll also remind folks of the families of those who didn’t make it home, and the pain they still bear.

If you are unable to attend Monday’s Sheldon Memorial Day ceremony, it will be recorded live, with the recording played on KIWA-FM radio Monday at noon, in a delayed broadcast of the event.

Remember, the actual ceremony will be held Monday morning at 10:00 at the Sheldon High School, and the delayed broadcast of the event will take place at noon Monday on KIWA-FM 105.3.
