Sheldon PD Sgt. Loeschen Takes Oath Of Office During Sheldon Council Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council had a very short meeting this week.

They approved the consent agenda, and in so doing, approved the minutes of the February 19th meeting, the claims list, a retail alcohol license for Hy-Vee and one for La Pasada Mexican Restaurant and Bar, a beer permit for Main Street 3 Theatre, the utility billing policies and procedures, a clarification of start date for Police Sergeant Tim Loeschen, and a resolution approving ag deferments for fiscal year 2026.

Mayor Pro Tem Pete Hamill presided over the meeting in the absence of Mayor Greg Geels and Hamill also administered the oath of office as Sergeant to Police Officer Tim Loeschen.

In new business, the council was to hear a report from Mid-Sioux Opportunity and was to be presented with an agreement that will be voted on in April. But due to weather, this item was postponed to a future date to be determined.

City Manager Sam Kooiker submitted his written report, but didn’t have anything to highlight at the meeting and there were no questions.

There were no other comments or questions from the council or City staff.
