Sheldon Police Roster To Gain Two Officers Soon

Sheldon, Iowa — The City of Sheldon is about to have two new police officers.

Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker tells us that the vacancies started when Sgt. Eric Meinecke was hired to be the Chief of the department, causing his old position to be open. And now, says Kooiker, Officer Dan Crawley’s position needs to be filled.

Kooiker tells us about the candidates who are set to accept the positions.

According to Kooiker, they hope both men will be able to attend the training in May. He tells us about their ideal timeline.

He says that’s a 10-to-12-week process. Kooiker tells us the State of Iowa has reduced the price of the academy to about a third of what it used to be.
