Sheldon, Iowa — Unless something changes in the next few days, Sheldon area residents will have to take their cans out of town to get the five-cent refund.
Toni Ginger, who runs Corner Can Redemption tells us that she is going to close the business this week.
She says they hope to sell the business to someone else, but that’s not a done deal yet.
Ginger says they’ve been running the business for 15 years. She says there is no lack of cans and bottles in the area; business has been great; and as far as she knows, there are no other places that take cans and bottles in Sheldon; so there would be a market for someone who wanted to start a business.
For whatever it’s worth, aluminum cans are recyclable, but if you put them in your recycling, you obviously won’t get the five-cent refund.
