Sheldon Superintendent Talks Flooding, Board Meetings

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Community Schools Superintendent Cory Myer had a busy day Wednesday between battling a second round of flooding at the high school and attending a pair of school board meetings later in the day.

It all started yesterday morning when, for the second time in less than a week, heavy rains caused flooding at the high school. Myer tells KIWA that, after yesterday’s flooding, he thinks they have a handle on the cause.

He says that, after they got the issue figured out, the afternoon rains did NOT make it inside the building.

After dealing with the flooding issues Wednesday, Myer attended the first of two scheduled school board meetings. He tells us about the first, which he says was a work session.

Then the regular July school board meeting was held Wednesday night at the high school. One of the items of business was appointment and swearing in of the Board Secretary/Treasurer for the upcoming year.

Myer also updated the school board on the progress of the new preschool building remodel.

The new preschool building is located across Park Street from the high school building and most recently housed the Fantasia coffee shop.
