Sheldon Superintendent Talks Snow Days

Sheldon, Iowa — Winter weather may have started later than normal this year, but it has caused some missed school days, late starts, and early dismissals…and there may be more in store.

We talked to Sheldon Superintendent of Schools Cory Myer, who explains how they determine if, and when, to make up school days lost to the weather.

Myer says some school districts around the state have already adjusted their schedules to account for the lost school days.

He says Sheldon is tentatively planning to handle missed days differently than late start or early dismissal days.

Myer says the Sheldon district is in better shape than some Iowa school districts when it comes to snow days.

Now it’s all a matter of waiting to see what Mother Nature has in store for us for the remainder of the winter season in order to determine the school year’s total number of snow days as well as late start and early dismissal days.
