Shopko To Close Another Area Store – Sheldon To Remain Open

Worthington, Minnesota — A big box retailer that had previously announced the closing of a northwest Iowa location has now announced the closing of another area store.

Back in December Shopko Stores Operating Company announced the closing of their store in Cherokee, along with two other Iowa locations. Now, the company says they’ll close their Worthington, Minnesota Shopko location in May of this year.

Shopko filed for bankruptcy protection on January 16th of this year. At the same time they announced the bankruptcy filing, they announced that the store in Estherville would be closing in early April.

The company says the continuing stores, including their Sheldon Shopko Hometown location continue to remain open for business, stocked with products to which shoppers are accustomed. They say their return policies, warranties, gift cards, merchandise credits, sales and loyalty programs continue as usual.

In January Shopko officials assured KIWA that Sheldon’s Shopko Hometown store would NOT be on their list of store closures.
