Sibley Time Capsule To Be Re-buried Sunday, To Be Dug Up In 2072

Sibley, Iowa — It’s the finale to the 150th anniversary of both Sibley and Osceola County, and it’s taking place this Sunday. Organizers tell us they’re going to bury the time capsule again, to be excavated in 2072.

Beth Thole is with the committee that’s in charge of the project. She says they dug up the capsule buried in 1972 during festivities this summer.

The ceremony will be this Sunday, September 25th, at 2 p.m. says Thole. She tells us more about it.

She tells us the ceremony could last up to an hour, and you can bring your own lawn chairs.

Thole says this isn’t the only time capsule buried there.

Again, the ceremony is on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Osceola County Courthouse in Sibley. Among other speakers, Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg will speak.
