Sioux Center Man Escapes Injury, But Is Charged With Texting While Driving After Accident

accidentSioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man was charged with texting while driving after he rolled his pickup northwest of Sioux Center early on Monday.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 1:30 AM, 23-year-old Ross Feekes of Sioux Center was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup eastbound on 370th Street, three miles northwest of Sioux Center. Feekes reported that he was text messaging while driving, and crossed the center of the road. The car struck a bridge guardrail, entered the north ditch and rolled.

No injuries were reported.

The Chevrolet sustained approximately $12,000 in damages. The Sioux County Highway Department bridge sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages.

Feekes was cited for unlawful use of an electronic communication device.
