Sioux Center, Iowa — Expect lots of runners on Sioux Center’s city streets and recreational trails. The annual Harvest Half Marathon is being run there this Saturday morning.
Race officials tell us there will be a 10K race too for those who aren’t participating in the half marathon. They say that a half marathon is thirteen miles, while a 10K is 10,000 meters, or 6.2 miles, which is a little less than half of the half marathon.
Organizers tell us the Harvest Half Marathon is in its third year. It is sort of an offshoot of the Siouxperman Triathlon that is run earlier in the year. They say the Harvest Half Marathon was born out of the Siouxperman committee’s desire to have another event in the community and also to have an event that didn’t have swimming and biking, as those events need equipment and facilities.
Online registration for the event is closed but you can find more information at their website: www.harvesthalfiowa.com.
