Sioux County Sheriff’s Office Joins Thousands Marking National Police Week

Orange City, Iowa — This has been National Police Week in the United States.

Sioux County Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst tells us what it’s all about.

He says they also honor their deputies during the week.

He says as a law enforcement officer you never know what you’re going to have to deal with.

There are 16 full-time law enforcement officers working for the Sioux County Sheriff’s office, with four part-time deputies. Van Voorst says they’d like to add another full-time deputy to the roster.

Van Voorst says the large number of names being added to the memorial is a sobering thought.

We at KIWA remind you to remember your local law enforcement officers this week and every week.
