Sioux County Sheriff’s Office Trying To Increase Engagement On Social Media

Orange City, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office has had a social media presence for some time now, but they appear to be stepping up their social media efforts.

We talked to Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst about it.

Sheriff Van Voorst says it’s about community engagement, which he says should help their department, as people will be used to talking with them.

He says they want to drive home the point that law enforcement personnel are your friends and neighbors.

The sheriff tells us they recently did a survey on social media asking what people thought were the most frequent type of call that they get at the sheriff’s office. He says he was very surprised by the large number of people who participated.

He says he’d encourage people to check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and on their web page. Sheriff Van Voorst tells us it’s all about transparency to him.
