South O’Brien Elementary Principal Charged With Misappropriating Mom’s Money

Canton, South Dakota — An area elementary principal has been charged in South Dakota with misappropriating his mother’s money.

KCAU TV reports that 54-year-old Michael Morran is charged in Lincoln County, South Dakota, with six varying counts of theft by exploitation, three being Class 4 felonies and one each of Class 5 and 6 felony.

Morran, who is the principal of South O’Brien Elementary in Primghar, was meant to provide support to his mother, but court documents said he misappropriated some of the money in multiple incidents that allegedly occurred between December 28, 2015 and October 3, 2017.

KCAU reports that Morran was arrested on the charges, but has since bonded out. He’s scheduled to appear in Lincoln County District Court in Canton on Monday December 9th.
