Northwest Iowa — Severe Thunderstorms rumbled through northwest Iowa Saturday morning, packing heavy winds and very heavy rainfall in parts of the listening area.
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls began issuing Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for southeast South Dakota before 7:00 Saturday morning. The Severe Thunderstorm Warnings began in earnest in northwest Iowa with a Warning for western Lyon County, which was issued at 8:15 Saturday morning, and continuing into the 9:00 am hour.
In Sheldon, a peak wind gust of 55 miles-per-hour was clocked at the Sheldon Regional Airport at 9:15 Saturday morning as the storm passed through.
The winds caused some tree damage in Orange City and Rock Rapids as the storm passed through those communities.
