Taco Johns Celebrates 50 Years With 69-Cent Tacos, More

Sheldon, Iowa — The parent company behind a Sheldon restaurant franchise is celebrating 50 years.

Taco John’s started with one store in 1969 in Wyoming. Now there are nearly 400 Taco John’s locations in 23 states. One of them is right here in Sheldon on Highway 18 at Sheldon Crossing near Highway 60.

We talked to Ashley Clark, a supervisor at Taco John’s Sheldon location, and she tells us how they’re celebrating the 50th Anniversary.

The 69-cent taco price is in honor of 1969, and the Gold Rush Churro is gold for the 50th anniversary. Clark tells us that the 69-cent taco price is one day only — this Tuesday, August 13th, but the Gold Rush Churro is available while supplies last.

Clark says they’ve also brought back an old favorite for their 50th anniversary — the Sierra Chicken Sandwich.

She says they’ll have the Sierra Chicken Sandwiches until at least September first.

Clark tells us that the Sheldon Taco John’s has been in their current location since 2007, and they were at their previous location at Highway 18 and Old Highway 60 for several years before that. Taco John’s also has locations in our area in Sioux Center and Orange City.
