Northwest Iowa — This is National FFA Week, and FFA Chapters from across the country are celebrating agriculture education.
Sheldon FFA Advisor and teacher Gene Bomgaars says that each day this week is celebrated with a separate designation.
While most of the Sheldon FFA members chose to drive their trucks to school for Tractor/Truck Thursday, the parking lots at some northwest Iowa high schools were lined with tractors Thursday.
Bomgaars says FFA has come a long way from the days when students were simply preparing to go into farming. He says the focus and curriculum have changed.
He says that FFA teaches skills that students can carry forward into whatever career field they choose.
Bomgaars says there are approximately 50 FFA members at the Sheldon High School.
