Three O’Brien County Entities Benefit From “Hope Lives”

O’Brien County, Iowa — A trio of O’Brien County non-profit entities were presented checks Friday morning as the culmination of the Hope Lives campaign.

Hope Lives is a slogan adopted this past spring by Rise Ministries in Sheldon, along with the other members of the Christian Festivals Association (CFA) to bring a message of hope in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

Ellie Waring, of Rise Ministries, used her graphic design skills to come up with a logo for for Hope Lives, which was printed on t-shirts and sweatshirts that were then sold to the public to, in Rise Ministries President Rob Roozeboom’s words, “plastered Hope Lives all over.”  The shirts and sweatshirts were printed and offered for sale by Top Notch Stitching in Sheldon.

Friday morning, checks were presented to a trio of O’Brien County-based organizations: Sheldon Mobile Foodbank, O’Brien County Upper Des Moines Opportunity’s food pantry and Rise ministries, by Top Notch Stitching, KIWA Radio and Rise. Each organization received a check for $500.

Barb Hibma, of the Sheldon Mobile Foodbank told KIWA, “On behalf of the board of the Sheldon Mobile Foodbank, we are very grateful for this donation that we received today. We are also very grateful for the support of the community but especially to KIWA for the quick response to all of our needs when we’ve had to change locations, dates and times because of theCOVID virus. We are very grateful for our local radio station. Your ‘above and beyond’ help has not gone unnoticed! THANK YOU.”
