Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of Stolen Camper, Snowmobiles

Little Rock, Iowa — A traffic stop near Little Rock on Saturday has led to the discovery of a stolen camper, two stolen snowmobiles, and drug charges, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

They report that about 3:20 p.m., one of their deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 4300 block of Highway 9, about three miles west of Little Rock. The deputy found that the driver, 35-year-old Stephen Martin-Hall of St Paul, Minnesota allegedly did not have a valid license. Upon further investigation, the deputy found that Martin-Hall was allegedly in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Martin-Hall was cited on charges of Excessive Speed and Driving without a Valid License. He was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; and Possession of a Controlled Substance, a serious misdemeanor. Martin-Hall was transported to the Lyon County Jail on those charges.

At about 5:00 p.m., another Lyon County Deputy witnessed 32-year-old Traci Cranston of St. Paul, MN driving the same vehicle from the previous traffic stop at Highway 9 and Madison Avenue, just south of Little Rock. The report says the deputy was aware that she did not have a valid license. During the traffic stop the deputy learned information that led to the application for a search warrant for the camper that Cranston and Martin-Hall were sharing as their residence in the Little Rock campground. While executing the search warrant, deputies report that they found the camper that Cranston and Martin-Hall were staying in was allegedly stolen out of Minnesota. They also discovered at the campground, two snowmobiles that were allegedly stolen out of Minnesota. The deputies also report that they allegedly found multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of a controlled substance.

The report also says that during this investigation, two minor children were taken into custody by the Iowa Department of Human Services.

As a result of the search warrant, Martin-Hall was additionally charged with three additional counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; one additional count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a serious misdemeanor; Possession of Stolen Property 1st Degree, a class C felony; and Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree, a class D felony, according to authorities.

Officials say Cranston was charged with three counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Stolen Property 1st Degree, and Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says The Iowa Department of Natural Resources assisted them.

The investigation continues and more charges are possible, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
