Troutfest Is Saturday At The Ashton Pond

Ashton, Iowa — If you’re looking for a fun outdoor activity this Saturday you should check out Osceola County Conservation Board’s Troutfest Saturday morning in Ashton.

Nick Schmalen is Director of the Osceola County Conservation Board, and he tells us about Troutfest.

Schmalen says tagged fish have been stocked both at the Ashton pond and the May City pit, and those tagged fish qualify the anglers who catch them to be entered into a Grand Prize drawing.

He talks about the schedule for Troutfest.

No pre-registration is required, you can register Saturday morning when you arrive at the Ashton pond. Schmalen says the first kids to arrive will get a free fishing pole. He says there will be several door prizes available, as well.

Schmalen says anyone 16 or older must have a valid fishing license and a trout stamp.

If you have any questions, call the Osceola County Conservation Board at 712-758-3709. If conditions don’t allow Troutfest to take place, listen to KIWA for cancellations, or check kiwaradio.com.
