Northwest Iowa — Just two positive COVID test results were reported in the past seven days in the O’Brien, Osceola, Sioux and Lyon County area, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
The two positive tests during the previous seven days came in the form of one each in Sioux and Lyon Counties. In Sioux County, that’s down two from the week before, and down five in Lyon County. Neither O’Brien nor Osceola Counties reported any positive tests during the past week.
There were no additional COVID-related deaths in the four-county area this week, either. In fact, Osceola County adjusted their death toll down from 17 to 14. No reason was given for the change. So, according to current numbers, 186 residents of the four-county area have passed away due to COVID-related illnesses since the pandemic began.
Just one long-term care facility in Iowa is reporting a COVID outbreak this week, down from three a week ago. The lone facility is located in Marshall County, in central Iowa, where the Iowa Veteran’s Home is reporting nine residents and staff suffering from the virus.
