Upcoming Highway Construction In Northwest Iowa

Northwest Iowa — This spring and summer residents of northwest Iowa may notice quite a bit of road work on highways throughout the area.

Dakin Schultz, the Iowa DOT Transportation Planner, tells us the biggest road construction will be the pavement replacement project of US Highway 71 through the Lakes area. He says this project will begin at Arnolds Park’s Okoboji Grove Road and go through Okoboji’s Okoboji View Avenue. Schultz says this project began work Monday, March 13th, and won’t be finished until spring of 2025 because of tourist season in the Lakes.

Schultz tells us what work will be done in 2023.

He says there will be a detour on US Highway 71 so people can get around the area. For more information on this project visit the Iowa DOT.

Schultz says in O’Brien County there will be a Mud Creek bridge replacement on Iowa Highway 10, which is 1.9 miles west of County Road L48.

In Lyon County, he says, there will be an asphalt resurfacing project on US Highway 75, from Iowa Highway 9 to the Minnesota border.

Sioux County also has US Highway 75 road work, Schultz explains, but it is through Sioux Center, so the City is heading that project.

Schultz tells us that Osceola County will only have some patching work on Iowa Highway 60.
