Sheldon, Iowa — Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon has announced the changing of the names of two buildings associated with two of their programs.
Village CEO Barry Whitsell says the name changes are due to some new rules from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid that will be going into effect in the coming months which emphasize community-based services, and limit the ability to continue work on a contract basis for people with disabilities. As a result, Northwest Enterprises will be moving away from a work center and allowing more activities in and around the Sheldon community. To that end, Northwest Enterprises will be known as “The Summit.”
The second building to be renamed is Futures Unlimited, which will become the ACT Center. ACT is an acronym for Autism Community Transition Center, and since 2015 has been the home for Village Northwest’s Autism program.
Whitsell says the name changes are effective immediately, and signage for the name changes will be changed within the next few months.
