Vocal & Instrumental Solo, Ensemble Contest Is Saturday

Sheldon-Schools-logoSheldon, Iowa — It’s a busy time of the year for Sheldon High School musicians.

This past Tuesday, Vocal Fusion, the Sheldon High School Jazz Choir, won the Class 2A State Championship in competition held at West Des Moines, for the third straight year.  Sheldon Choir Director Brett Gregory talks about Vocal Fusion’s three-peat.

The vocalists don’t have long to savor their victory, however, since they’ll be boarding the buses bright and early this Saturday morning to take part in State Solo and Ensemble Contest at Sioux Central High School in Sioux Rapids.  Gregory talks about that contest.

Gregory says the Sheldon High School Vocal Department will have 9 singers competing at Saturday’s contest.  High school bands are also involved in the State Solo and Ensemble Contest at Sioux Central Saturday, and Band Director Cliff St. Clair says he taking a smaller group with him to the contest this year.

Saturday’s Vocal & Instrumental Solo and Ensemble Contest will be an all day affair, and will be held at Sioux Central High School, which is located along Highway 71, on the south edge of Sioux Rapids.
