Northwest Iowa — Iowa’s legislative redistricting maps that were approved by the Iowa Legislature and signed into law by Governor Reynolds have thrown two Republican incumbent state legislators, Tom Jeneary of Le Mars and Skyler Wheeler of Orange City, into the same legislative district.
Wheeler tells KIWA that it puts both men in a tough position.
Wheeler says says he’s trying to keep his options open.
One of the options available to Wheeler and Jeneary would be to face off in a Republican Primary next summer. However, Wheeler says he doesn’t see that happening.
Wheeler says he and Jeneary have been talking and both are assessing their options.
For Wheeler to run for the House District 4 seat, he would be required to move his residence north into that district.
