Women Taken To Hospital After Accident

Alton, Iowa — A Whittier, Iowa woman and an Alton woman were taken to a hospital after an accident near Alton on Wednesday night, December 21st, 2016.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:30 p.m., 50-year-old Dianne Joanning of Alton was driving a 2013 Ford Escape eastbound on 480th Street. They report that 43-year-old Misty Minton of Whittier, Iowa was driving a 2009 Kia Spectra southbound on Jefferson Avenue.

The two vehicles met in the intersection where Minton struck Joanning.

The report says the Alton Ambulance took Minton to the Orange City Health System Hospital, and that Joanning was transported by private vehicle to the same hospital.

According to the Sheriff’s office, the Joanning Ford sustained about $3,000 in damage. The Minton Kia sustained approximately $3,000 in damage.

The Sheriff’s Office cited Minton on a charge of failure to yield to a vehicle on the right.

They report that the Alton Fire Department, Alton Ambulance crew and the Orange City Police Department assisted them.
