Primghar, Iowa — People have been able to request absentee ballots for the November election for over a week now.
But O’Brien County Auditor Barb Rohwer tells us you won’t see the ballot in your mailbox anytime soon.
She tells us there is a way to make sure they got your request.
Requests for absentee ballots have to be filled out on an official form, which can be found on the O’Brien County Auditor’s website or the Secretary of State’s website. She says you can email in the completed form, but the original form STILL needs to be mailed in to the county auditor’s office before they can count your vote.
The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is October 21st, at 5:00 p.m. But you can vote in-person at the county auditor’s office from October 16th up until the day before the election, November 4th. She tells us the last date to pre-register to vote is also October 21st. Rohwer reminds us that you can register at the poll when you vote, but it’s easier for everyone if you register in advance.
There will be a presidential race, state candidates, and much more on the ballot. Rohwer highlights the O’Brien County candidates, who all happen to be running unopposed.
She says there will also be two constitutional amendments on the ballot.
The general election will be on Tuesday, November 5th.
