Doon, Iowa — A Canton man’s passenger was taken to a hospital after an accident near Doon early on Sunday.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 1:00 a.m., Scott Vandekieft of Canton was eastbound in the 2600 block of 240th Street with his wife Darcy Techen in their Dodge 3500, a mile north of Doon and two miles west.
At that point, says the deputy, Vandekieft collided with four cows head-on in the eastbound lane.
Vandekieft was uninjured, but one passenger was transported by the Lyon County Ambulance, due to non-life-threatening injuries.
The owner of the cattle was Jason De Weerd of Doon.
The deputy reports that the Doon Rescue Squad, the Lyon County Ambulance Squad, and The Tow Co. assisted the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office with the response to the accident.
