Des Moines Woman Faces Felony Drug Charges After Sheldon Traffic Stop

Sheldon, Iowa — A Des Moines woman has been arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 37-year-old Tiffany Huffaker of Des Moines is accused of the third or subsequent possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested on Saturday.

In his statement, the officer says Huffaker was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for multiple equipment violations. He says the odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. Huffaker allegedly handed the officer a meth pipe from her pants and allegedly admitted she had meth and marijuana in the vehicle.

Huffaker was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted on both counts, she could face up to five years in prison per count for a total of ten years if ordered to serve the terms consecutively.

She faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025.

At last report, Huffaker remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of bond.
