Everly Motorcycle Rider Killed In Accident

Everly, Iowa — A May City woman and a Sheldon man were involved in an accident that killed a motorcycle rider from Everly near Everly on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 8:45 a.m., 54-year-old Douglas Nielsen of Everly was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson eastbound on B24 or 350th Street, about a mile south and two east of Everly. They tell us that 51-year-old Amber Champine of May City was eastbound in front of Nielsen in a 2013 Chrysler minivan. Coming from the other direction was a 2009 Chevy pickup, driven by Kenneth Ulatowski of Sheldon.

The report says that Nielsen’s motorcycle struck the rear of Champine’s minivan. Nielsen was thrown from his motorcycle and was struck by the Ulatowski Chevy.

Nielsen was pronounced dead on the scene.

The trooper reports that the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and local fire and rescue personnel assisted at the scene.
