Des Moines, Iowa — We are in the midst of a month-long period of mourning and a month-long period of flags being at half-staff due to the death of former President Jimmy Carter, as issued by President Joe Biden and echoed by Governor Kim Reynolds.
But, now Reynolds has issued an exception proclamation for one day.
Gov. Reynolds ordered flags at the Iowa State Capitol and all state buildings raised to full-staff from sunrise on January 20, 2025, to sunset on January 20, 2025, to recognize the presidential inauguration of President-Elect Donald J. Trump.
Reynolds says, “On Monday, President Donald J. Trump will be officially sworn into office as the 47th President of the United States. Iowa will celebrate and recognize this historic change in our country’s leadership by raising our flags.”
Flags will be lowered again to half-staff from sunrise January 21, 2025, to sunset January 28, 2025, in remembrance of President Jimmy Carter.
