Hibma Tells Us About Unity Meal, Mobile Food Pantry

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Area Unity Meal has been going on for several years.

Barb Hibma, with Honor God Ministries, is one of the people who set it up, and we had a chance to visit with her on our KIWA-FM Talk of the Town program on Friday morning, which can be heard every weekday morning at 8:30.

Hibma tells us how the Unity Meal got started.

She says it’s more than just sitting down and having a meal together.

While the meal is held at Living Water Community Church on Old Highway 60 — 2nd Avenue, Hibma tells us that it’s not affiliated with any particular church.

According to Hibma, those who eat the meal often tell her that they really appreciate the meal, as they would otherwise eat alone.

The next Sheldon Unity Meal is this coming Monday night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., again, at Living Water Community Church.

Hibma says not only churches, but businesses also support the monthly meal.

Hibma tells us they also partner with the Food Bank Of Iowa, and give out food, also at Living Water Community Church.

The next visit by the mobile food bank will be on Thursday, September 5th. The mobile food bank night is switching to Thursdays.

According to Hibma, during the October and November food distribution, the Coats For Kids distribution will be taking place on the other side of the building.

If you’d like to donate, you can call Hibma at 712-541-1502.
