Students in the Rock Valley Community School District will soon have a new principal.

Administrators have announced that Kobe Lutjens has been named the new principal of Rock Valley Elementary.

They tell us Lutjens brings “tremendous energy and a strong commitment to education and leadership within the district.” Currently serving as a 4th-grade teacher at Rock Valley Elementary, they say Lutjens has “fostered a positive and inclusive learning environment and actively contributed to school initiatives through his role on the
Blue-Ribbon Committee.” He is also involved in various extracurricular activities, including coaching high school football and junior high girls’ basketball, which, they say, “showcase his dedication to student development both inside and outside the classroom.”

Lutjens holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, with endorsements in Instructional Strategies and Coaching. He is on track to complete his Master’s in Educational Administration and Principal Endorsement from Northwestern College in May 2026.

Superintendent Matt VanVoorst expressed his excitement for Lutjens’ leadership role, stating, “Kobe’s energy, passion for education, and deep connection to our school and community make him the perfect fit to lead Rock Valley Elementary. We are confident that his innovative ideas and collaborative spirit will continue to drive excellence in our school.”

Lutjens will officially begin leading Rock Valley Elementary on July 1, 2025.
