Larchwood, Iowa– At least three people were taken to Sioux Falls hospitals after an accident near Larchwood on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
The Rock County (Minnesota) Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 7:44 a.m., 24-year-old Jose Mateo of St. Paul, Minnesota was driving westbound on Iowa 100th Street or Minnesota 11th Street– the state line road, at the Tri-State Marker, three miles north and about a mile west of Larchwood. They tell us that 70-year-old Charles Christensen of Fairmont, Minnesota was eastbound on that road.
The report says that Christensen, who may have had a medical issue, crossed over the center line into the other lane of traffic and sideswiped the Mateo vehicle.
According to Lyon County Ambulance personnel, at least three people were taken to Sioux Falls hospitals as a result of the accident.
