May City, Iowa — A May City man has been arrested on a felony sex abuse charge.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Osceola County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 44-year-old Benigno Ortiz Flores of May City is accused of sexually abusing a minor on multiple occasions. He was arrested last week.
In his statement, the deputy says that according to the victim’s testimony, the abuse took place repeatedly from a point when she was as young as six years of age, into her teens.
Ortiz Flores was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
He faces a preliminary hearing on the charge on December 5th.
Ortiz Flores was booked into the Osceola County Jail in Sibley, and was released the same day after posting a $25,000 bond.
