Hartley, Iowa — A Milford man has been arrested on a felony child endangerment charge.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Hartley Police Department, 53-year-old Chad Cookinham of Milford is accused of physically fighting with his juvenile daughter. He was arrested on Monday.
In his statement, the officer says the fight involved Cookinham throwing a frying pan at the victim, throwing the victim to the ground and putting her in a headlock. The statement also alleges Cookinham was attempting to leave the home when police arrived.
Cookinham was charged with child endangerment causing bodily injury, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.
He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on January 6th.
Cookinham was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released the next day after posting bond.
