O’Brien County Community Foundation Receives Large Gift

O’Brien County, Iowa — An O’Brien County foundation has received a large gift.

Officials with the O’Brien County Community Foundation tell us they have received a “remarkable” gift of over $450,000 from the estate of Leane Bodle. They tell us the generous contribution marks one of the largest single gifts in the foundation’s history and they say it will provide enduring support for programs and services in O’Brien County.

We’re told the gift will be used to establish the Leane Bodle Endowment Fund, which will provide support for projects and programs in O’Brien County in perpetuity. This new fund aligns with the foundation’s mission to build endowments for the benefit of O’Brien County.

Denise Steffen, Board Chair of the O’Brien County Community Foundation, says, “We are deeply grateful for Leane Bodle’s extraordinary generosity and commitment to our county. This gift is a testament to her vision and belief in the power of philanthropy to transform lives. We are honored to steward her legacy and ensure that this gift creates lasting, meaningful change for the benefit of the residents of O’Brien County.”

Foundation officials tell us OBCCF is making an immediate impact through grants from Bodle’s estate gift to the following organizations for the betterment of the O’Brien County community.

Each of these daycares received $10,000 for general support: Kids Campus Daycare, Primghar; Kids Express Daycare, Sanborn; Children’s World Daycare, Sheldon; Saving Grace Daycare, Paullina; Hartley Community Daycare, Hartley; and Noah’s Ark Daycare, Sutherland.

The Prairie Heritage Center received $10,000 toward their exhibit renovation and the Sheldon Recreational Trails received $10,000 towards their trail project.

The American Legions of Paullina, Primghar, and Sutherland received $7,500 towards their effort to purchase a new motorized flag for the South O’Brien School Gym.
