Sioux Center, Iowa — Another person has died as the result of an accident west of Sioux Center Wednesday morning. Authorities say 28-year-old Maikol Segobia of Chicago died at the scene and now 24-year-old Alfredo Lira, also of Chicago has died as well as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Also injured in the crash were drivers, 27-year-old Renzo Parra of Chicago and 28-year-old Elizabeth Hutton of Hawarden; and passengers 24-year-old Danny Galindez of Chicago in the Parra vehicle and 43-year-old Eric Triplet of Hawarden in the Hutton vehicle. They were taken to area hospitals by ambulance.

Sioux Center, Iowa — Names of some of the victims of the fatal accident west of Sioux Center have been released.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at the intersection of 390th Street and Garfield Avenue, three miles west of Sioux Center on Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024 just before 5:25 a.m.
Two vehicles were involved and they tell us it is a joint accident investigation between the sheriff’s office and the Iowa State Patrol.
Sheriff’s officials tell us a Honda Fit, driven by 27-year-old Renzo Parra of Chicago, Illinois, was traveling northbound on Garfield Avenue and a Chevrolet Impala, driven by 28-year-old Elizabeth Hutton of Hawarden was traveling eastbound on 390th Street when Parra allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign at 390th Street and entered the intersection, causing the vehicles to collide.
A passenger in the Honda, 28-year-old Maikol Segobia of Chicago died at the scene as a result of their injuries. Both drivers and three other passengers in the vehicles were transported to Sioux Center Health for treatment of their injuries. Two of those passengers were later flown to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City and Avera McKennan University Health Center in Sioux Falls for further medical attention.
Assisting the sheriff’s office and Iowa State Patrol with emergency response were the Sioux Center Police Department, the Sioux Center Fire Department, and ambulance services from Sioux Center and Ireton.
