Orange City, Iowa — Students and their parents at one school in Orange City are now better-prepared should something out-of-the-ordinary happen.
Administrators at Orange City Christian School tell us that their students and staff participated in a “reunification drill” this week.
They tell us they practiced what to do in an emergency situation if students would need to be picked up off-site at a second location. A predetermined, practiced reunification method ensures the reunification process will not further complicate what they say would probably already be a “chaotic, anxiety-filled scene.”
The administrators at Orange City Christian sent out special thanks to the Orange City Fire Department, Orange City Police Department, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, and Sioux County Emergency Management for assisting them in their drill and helping things “run so smoothly.”
They also said, “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our staff and students for staying calm and carrying out the drill smoothly. We also appreciate the patience and support of parents, grandparents, and all those who assisted with student pick-up as we worked through the process.”
