Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Mayor Greg Geels administered the oath of office to new Sheldon Police Officer Jager Roozeboom at the Sheldon City Council meeting on Wednesday evening. Roozeboom’s father, Rob Roozeboom, founder and CEO of Rise Ministries, pinned on the officer’s badge.
The council then proceeded to address the items at their regular meeting. No one was present at the meeting for the public hearing on the 2026 City of Sheldon Budget. City staff said that no written comments were received either. The council voted unanimously to adopt the proposed budget.
The council also approved the consent agenda. Click here to see all the items that were approved by that action.
Under new business, the council voted to accept a resolution approving a one-year contracted administration services agreement with Planning Solutions, LLC.
The council also got an update on the Western Avenue project, which is now underway. A temporary road has been put in place on the west side of the homes on that street to facilitate transportation in the area. Contractors hope to be done with the project by the middle of October.
