Sanborn, Iowa — A small fire was put out by the Sanborn Fire Department on Sunday.
According to Sanborn firefighter Chad Lyman, a trash barrel at 3263 Roosevelt Avenue was the cause of the blaze. Sparks or flames from the garbage caught the dry grass on fire and it burned the lawn.
He says the fire was on the way to dry stubble in the field, but they were able to stop it before it got there. He says, in fact, that the homeowner was able to put it mostly out by the time they got there — with a leaf blower.
No injuries were reported, and the fire department was only on the scene for about ten minutes, according to Lyman.
