Settling into a long-term period of low commodity prices

IARN – It’s no surprise to you that market prices for grains are low. They’re nowhere near what we enjoyed a few years ago. Many factors are driving this situation, but understanding them doesn’t necessarily make it any easier.

The main question I Have been hearing farmers ask is, “When will it get better?” That’s a legitimate question, but for now, the odds are not in our favor. There is just too much negative pressure on these markets to see a real change. Just because we look to be settling in for a long-term run of low prices doesn’t mean that it is never going to get better. Ag Economist Joe Janzen says that there are a few things that have to happen first.
