Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Fire Company is raising funds to buy an inflatable boat. Fire Chief Brad Hindt says this year’s flooding proved that while water rescues may not be common in Sheldon, it is, in his words, “something we cannot ignore.”
Hindt says it has been a challenging year for many of us due to the flooding and other circumstances that we encountered. But he says this year has also shown us what a community can accomplish when we pull together for a common goal.
Hindt says this year’s fundraising goal is to fund the purchase of an inflatable rescue boat and related rescue equipment. He says this year has proven the need for this piece of equipment and the impact it can have on our community. Hindt says firefighters strive to be prepared for every call that they receive.
Hindt says Sheldon firefighters hope that you will consider donating to the Sheldon Fire Company and show your support to the friends and neighbors that “ANSWER THE CALL.”
The annual Fire Company open house will be on October 10th. Hindt says it’s your chance to connect with the team of firefighters and learn more about the vital work that they do.
There will be a fundraising Burger Feed that night as well. — again — Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. He says the O’Brien County Cattlemen will be grilling the burgers at the Sheldon Fire Station. Freewill Donations are welcome. No tickets are needed.
