Two-motor vehicle accident near Hull sends one to the hospital

Hull, Iowa – A two-motor vehicle accident near Hull Saturday sent one to the hospital.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that they investigated the accident the occurred on Hickory Avenue, three miles south of Hull.

29-year-old Aaron Statema of Hawarden was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 southbound on Hickory Avenue and 21-year-old Jayden Carstensen of Jefferson, Iowa, was driving a 2022 Hyundai Kona northbound on Hickory Avenue. Statema lost control of the vehicle, entered the northbound lane and struck Carstensen.

Statema was transported by the Hull Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries. Carstensen was said to have minor injuries as well, but declined medical treatment.

The Hyundai sustained about $15,000 in damages with the Ford sustaining about $4,000 in damages. Statema was cited for failure to yield half of the roadway. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hull Fire Department and the Hull Ambulance.
