Two Taken To Hospital After Accident In Orange City

Orange City, Iowa– An Alton woman and an Orange City woman were taken to the hospital after an accident in Orange City on Monday, November 18, 2024.

The Orange City Police Department reports that at about 2:50 p.m., 53-year-old Vanetta Schroeder of Alton was driving a 2009 Mazda westbound on 1st Street Northwest in Orange City. They tell us that 33-year-old Kolbie Vande Brake of Orange City was southbound on Iowa Avenue in a 2021 Honda.

The report says that Schroeder told the officer that she had looked left and as she was looking right, she struck the Vande Brake vehicle in the middle of the uncontrolled intersection.

The Orange City Ambulance took Schroeder and Vande Brake to Orange City Health System Hospital.

Schroeder’s Mazda sustained $8000 in damages, and Vande Brake’s Honda sustained $6000 in damages.

Schroeder was charged with failure to yield to the vehicle on the right.

The officer says the Orange City Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance Squad, and Elite Auto Body assisted at the scene.
