Spencer, Iowa — U.S. Senator Joni Ernst has announced her Small Business of the Week for this week is coming from northwest Iowa.
Ernst, a ranking member of the Small Business Committee, has announced Vander Haag’s, Incorporated of Spencer as this week’s recipient.
The business was founded in 1939 in Sanborn and started as a scrap metal operation. John M. Vander Haag, grandson of founder John C. Vander Haag, serves as president of the company. They moved to Spencer over 50 years ago.
Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
