Northwest Iowa — If you have kids or grandkids coming home from college at the end of this week for the upcoming holidays, you may want to keep an eye on the weather.
The National Weather Service says we could have snow Friday afternoon and maybe freezing rain Friday night, with a chance for snow continuing into Saturday.
They tell us that near-normal temperatures will return late in the week. Periodic precipitation chances continue on Thursday. However, the possibility of more widespread wintry precipitation returns Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.
At last report, the possibility of one-hundredth of an inch of ice or more Friday afternoon or Saturday morning increased as you went southeast through the area. In the very northwest tip of Lyon County, there’s only a 10 percent chance. But most of O’Brien County has a 45 percent chance.
