Worker Rescued From Collapsed Building In Sibley

Sibley emergency responders were called out on Monday afternoon about 4:00 p.m. for a building collapse with someone stuck inside.

Fire Chief Ken Huls tells us it was at 103 5th Street West, at D& H Poultry. He says a contractor was constructing a new steel building and the wood was all up. He says a worker was working on a scissor lift inside, when a wind gust blew the whole frame structure over, forcing the scissor lift to the floor with the victim in the bucket cage.

Huls says by the time emergency responders arrived, the victim had been rescued by fellow workers. He says the victim was treated on the scene by Sibley Ambulance EMTs.

He says the building is a total loss.

Huls also says the victim was lucky as he could very easily have been seriously injured or worse.
