Burnette Hough

Burnette Hough,  age 89, of Lake Park, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford, Iowa. Father Tom Flanagan officiating.

Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park, Iowa.

Burnette Anna Mae Hough was born on May 9, 1923 in Lake Park, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Emma (Voss) Atzen. She was baptized in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Roswell, New Mexico. Burnette lived her youth in Lake Park, Iowa where she attended school and graduated from Excelsior High School.  She was united in marriage to Thomas R. Hough of Lake Park on October 28, 1942 at the Catholic Church in Royal, Iowa. They farmed at Lake Park for many years. Burnette worked for Dr. R. J. Coble for five years. They moved to Fremont, California and Burnette was employed at Montgomery Wards in the office for six years. In November of 1974, they moved to Oroville, California where she worked at Gibson Pharmacy for six years. In May of 1988, they moved back to Lake Park, Iowa. Thomas passed away on February 11, 2005.

Burnette was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford, Iowa where she was very active when she was able. She was a member of the Lake Park Cemetery Society and Royal Neighbors. Burnette enjoyed cooking and baking. She treasured the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Lake Park Care Center.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Allen E. and wife Elsie Hough of Danville, KY, and their children, Tommy of Fort Smith, AK, Frank and Sarah of Rochester, MN, Adam of Rochester, MN; John E. and Mureen Hough of Lake Park, IA, and their daughter, Michelle Houghof Milford, IA; James R. and wife Brenda Hough of Dakota Dunes, SD, and their children, Staci and Roger Luebbert and daughters, Adyson and Jessa of West Point NE, Steve Hough and daughter, Alexis of Homer, NE; sister-in-law, Theresa Miller of Homer, NE; dearest friends, Val Vierra, Pat Childars and Jeri Hough.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hough, her parents, one brother, Raymond Atzen, two sisters, Edna Atzen and Hazel Atzen.
