Robert L. “Jake” Mulder

Robert L. “Jake” Mulder 73 of Primghar passed away on Thursday March 22, 2012 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday March 26, 2012 at the American Reformed Church in Primghar Rev. Dennis Hietbrink and Rev. Thomas A. Connors will officiate with a graveside service at10:15 A.M. Monday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar.

Visitation will be after2 P.M. Sunday with the family present from4 to 6 P.M. Sunday at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar.

Robert L. “Jake” Mulder, the son of Jake and Gertrude (Reekers) Mulder was born September 15, 1938 in Sheldon, Iowa. He moved with his family in 1951 to Primghar and finished his education graduating from Primghar High School in 1956. He worked for Orrie Kleinheksel Electric and later Ewoldt Motors. In July of 1960, he began working for the City of Primghar working his way up to the Superintendent of Utilities before his retirement in September of 1995. On September 1, 1978, he was united in marriage to Rosalyn Whittlesey at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Sanborn. Their married life was spent in Primghar a community they enjoyed and supported. He passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 73 years, 6 months and 7 days.

He was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar, which he attended as well as attending St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Sanborn. He was currently President of the TCA Board in Sanborn and a charter member of the Primghar Golf and Country Club. He was a 41 year member of the Primghar Fire Department retiring in August of 2011. He enjoyed golfing and belonged to the Old Farts with Carts. During the summer he liked his garden, taking care of his lawn and also enjoyed traveling especially with Rosie. Jake was known as a true Packer fan making the journey each year to Green Bay for a Packer home football game.

Jake is survived by his wife, Rosie of Primghar; one sister, Janice and her husband, Marvin Peterson of Paullina; also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Henry, Jake Jr. and Warren.

Jake will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

 

Note:  The Sanford Clinic in Sheldon, Sanborn, Hartley and Boyden will be closed TODAY, Monday, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm due to Jake’s funeral.
